For the moment I am having a break with marketing etc. However because making art is my passion  I am all the time making new pictures. You can any time contact me if you are interested in giclée or other prints, wholesale, illustration or anything. I decided to not show whole  my gallery in internet anymore, but just ask by e-mail, if you want to see more of my artwork.

Making Fine Art Prints is Science. Test print is a must. / Taideprinttien teko on tiedettä. Tee ensin testiprintti

 

Make a painting, scan it or take a photo of it, print and sell.  That´s it. So simple. Or is it? Maybe something like that with my former simple inkjet printer. But not any more with the more complicated one, my pigment ink printer. I have been studying printing so much that I think could even give a lecture.  Pixels, dpi. Are they something to eat or what? Brightness? No, it doesn´t mean sunshine or happiness. Contrast? Saturation? Highlights? Gamma-value? CMYK? RGB? Does it mean something like ADHD? No?  Now I know it. And more.  Lately I have spent a lot of time trying to learn this kind of things, as a goal to make as good prints as possible.  And have made tens of test prints. It is a must. Before the final print it is obligatory if you want to get the best possible result. But the test print can be pretty and small. And you can use it later if it is good. Its the means to recall how managed to make that great print years ago. ICC profiles and especially customed ones help, but in my opinion it doesn't mean that you then necessarily make great prints without any effort. 

Above you can see some of my test prints of which many are very succesful. However none of the prints taken of the same picture is identical because the adjustement is different. I have also updated my site and Siklee shop and I begin to download Christmas prints there one by one.

Maalaa maalaus, skannaa se tai ota siitä kuva, printtaa ja myy. Siinä se. Yksinkertaista. Vai onko? Ehkäpä jotain sinnepäin vanhalla mustesuihkutulostimella, muttei enää uudella pigmenttimuste- tulostimella. Jos sillä haluaa saada kaikista kuvista laadukkaita on paras perehtyä tarkkaan pikseleiden, dpi ym maailmaan. Mikä ero noilla kahdella muuten on? Ja mitä väliä? No on todellakin väliä! Säädä sitten kontrasia, kirkkautta, saturaatiota, värejä, ääriviivoja, gammaa jne jne. Nykymaailma on täynnä kirjainyhdistelmiä ADHD, AIDS, DVD....Mitä sitten tarkoittaa CMYK tai RGB? No, nyt senkin nyt tiedän. Ja monta muuta asiaa. Niin hyvin, että voisin vaikka pitää luennon aiheesta. Ja testiprinttejä pitää tehdä. Ennen jokaista kuvaa. Mutta ne voivat hyvinkin olla pieniä ja sieviä ja niillekin varmasti löytyy käyttöä, jos ovat onnistuneita. Sitä paitsi ainakin parhaan lopputuloksen tuottanut kannattaa säilyttää vastaisen varalle, koska sen avulla voit palauttaa mieleen, miten teit sen tosi hyvän printin vuosia sitten. ICC profiileista eli tulostusprofiileista, varsinkin laitekohtaisista on hyötyä, mutta nekään eivät takaa sitä, ettetkö joutuisi myös tekemään lisäsäätöjä.

Yllä olevassa kuvassa on joukko testiprinttejä. Yksikään samasta kuvasta hieman eri säädöin otettu printti ei ole ihan samanlainen. Päivitin myös sivustoni ja Siklee kaupan ja alan ladata viime mainittuun yksi kerrallaan joulukuvia.

On time with my Musician Christmas Elves

Hello! Last year I started to paint my Musician Christmas Elves in November. This year I am on time, started  a couple weeks ago with these two more elves: flutist and accordionist. I  just should put colors on them. I have however - as usual - quite many oher unfinished paintings or drawings. Some flowers have been waiting since last summer ... I have even made a plan what I intend to do during this year. Doesn´t that sound ornanized for an bohemian artist! It is just easier - if you think and put it on the paper - to find out what is realistic.

At the Blueberry Time: About the background of the painting Art Nouveau Cat

It´s  the time of blueberries, so good to tell a little about the backgound of my picture "Art Nouveau Cat". I have already shared it in Google+ quite many times. The cat there is called Mathilda (sister of Mindo). It is quite a typical painting of mine at the time: I like for the first to combine realism - sometimes even photorealism - with fantasy and for the second make some objects with finel details and others approximate. In this painting the cat is painted in a very realistic way. In fact Mathilda looks quite exactly like that. The blueberries are simplified/stylished and make a good contrast with the yellowish background. The leaves of the lilies of the valley are quite redused, not much more than outlines  and two colors. It wasn´t my meaning to leave them so plain, but I think nothing more is needed in this painting. And the beautiful red - but poisoneus ! - berries have here an important  visual role. For the third: typical for me is that what the painting becomes in the end might often be quite much different from the one I sketched and planned. New ideas come when you paint. By the way often the best way to get ideas is to just start drawing something and the ideas just come;  rather than sit and try to seek the right mental creative artistic state of mind. For the fourth I have added here ornaments on the bottom. I like ornaments and decorations. I have left on purpose the lines not-straight. just because I have always preferred free línes. I never use ruler. But I admit that when I scetched the layout of the enlargement of my cottage for the architect, it looked better drawn with the help of the ruler...

But blueberries. They taste excellent as berries or in the form of blueberry-pie! And it is plenty of them arround my cottage. I should pick 1 litre per day. Already have 4 litres.

Wood Folk "Dragonfly Man" and recent news

It´s been long time since I wrote here. Well the spring went partly in "studying" entrepreneurship. I have launched  a Company of my own, named Siklee.  Comes from the french word giclée pronounced in finnish.

And I had not less than 4 exhibitions in June. One of them in the library of Sello is still continuing till 8.7.1016.

Been also planning to convert my cottage to my home  within a year, or at  least  make my cottage more comfortable to live also in wintertime. Some enlargement and comforts are needed. I´m waiting for the architectural drawings.  We´ll see see how it will go.
I have  also continued my series of "Wood Folk". I put here "The Dragonfly man". "Flower Girl" is the next but needs some finishing. The point in these drawings is to cover the surfaces with structure - without so many outlines - in stead of coloring. Have to confess that got the idea from an ink-drawing course. As an example of this style was mentioned Tove Jansson´s ink drawings.

Carnival, flamenco, charleston and ballet dancers ready / Karnevaali-, flamenco-, charleston- ja balettitanssija valmiit

So far 4 dancers in my series of "Dancers". There are still missing at least oriental dancer, river dancer, country western dancer, also males...with time. Maybe also Finnish Folk Dancers, or a whole series of them, favourite dresses...

Wood Folk, Troll and Night Fairy

I started to make a series of "Wood folk", with Indian Ink.  Here to begin with the Troll and Night fairy. The first one, the troll is in fact drawn already in 2014. In the end of a 3-days Indian ink drawing course held By Janne Toriseva.  At that stage drawing with a nib-pencil was fluent. However there was a little funny problem with this troll, but I will tell it you later, I´ll make a competition of it.  That course was one of the best art-courses I´ve ever been to. We were supposed to draw a creature according to a written description of the creature, without model. After bumping into my troll-drawing I decided to continue the series in the same manner and got the idea to draw a series of "Wood Folk".  For me it is easiest draw people without model - excluded portraits of course. With them you need a model. The most difficult thing for me with people is hands and fingers. There a model helps. When talkin about models. You always have it somewhere. If not anywhere else, then in your head. For example when you have drawn a lot a certain topic, so that you remember the details ( as I have drawn people, or a cartoonist who draws the same character over and over again or cat or horses or cars...) or if you have extremely good visual memory. You can also learn tactics to memorize better, as trying to detect familiar forms from the model.
For this series I have  in addition to these, 4 almost ready pictures, and 3 sketces. We`ll see if  I will draw them all.  Maybe I also make  bigger and coloured versions of these A4 sized pictures. Should also make some more pictures to my dancers series, and some more landscapes. No lac of topics.
Should also put here more background stories of my former artworks.

Aloin vaihteeksi piirtää enemmän tussilla. Tässä alkajaisiksi peikko ja "Yön keiju". Peikko on itse asiassa piirretty jo v 2014, 3-päiväisen tussikurssin viimeisenä päivänä, jolloin tussikynä (tussiterä) jo liukui sujuvasti. Vaikkakin tämän peikon kanssa tuli eteen yksi huvittava ongelma, josta laittanen myöhemmin pystyyn pienen kilpailun. Kyseinen kurssi on yksi parhaita taidekursseja, joita olen käynyt. Meidän oli määrä piirtää ilman mallia taruolento, josta oli kirjallinen kuvaus. Törmättyäni vastikään piirtämääni peikko-kuvaan aloin piirtää samaan tyyliin ja päätin piirtää kokonaisen "Metsän väki" sarjan. Minulle on luontevinta piirtää nimenomaan ihmisiä ilman mallia - lukuunottamatta muotokuvat, joissa tietysti tarvitsee mallin. Kuitenkin sormien piirtämisessä pähkäilen aina, ja mallista on apua. Malleista puheen ollen, olen sitä mieltä, että aina kun piirtää esittävää, on jossain joku malli. Jos ei sitten muualla, niin aivoissasi. Esimerkiksi jos olet piirtänyt jotain aihetta niin että yksityiskohdatkin ovat syöpyneet mieleesi tai piirtänyt kerta toisensa jälkeen samaa sarjakuvahahmoa tai kissoja tai hevosia tai autoja...) tai jos sinulla vain on ilmiömäisen hyvä visuaalinen muisti - tai hyvät muistitaktiikat.Voi esim. yrittää etsiä mallista tuttuja arkisia muotoja.
Tähän sarjaan olen piirtänyt nämä 2 valmista kuvaa, 4 puolivalmista ja muutaman luonnoksen. Katsotaan nyt mitä teen loppuun saakka. Olisi myös hauska tehdä näistä A4 kokoisista kuvista värilliset isommat versiot. Tanssija sarjaan voisi tehdä muutaman kuvan lisään, ja muutaman maisemankin. Aiheet eivät lopu.
Pitäisi myös laittaa tänne myös vanhempien töiden taustatarinoita.

Here you have the stylished version of the rapids, watercolor pencil + indian ink. This time not in Lapland, but combined with flowers. The same flowers that you can see in a photo in my website "about the artist", mock orange, quite much stylished however. The flowers are here in groups that form tubes. In fact inte bush that I have the flowers grow that way...if you look more closely. But as well these bushes could be white lilacs...When talking about the rapids, it is easier the make the rapids without model if you imagine that you are drawing irregular stairs with water above. I would like to make a woodcut of this also.
The paper here is smooth and relatively thin (140g/m2), so better use watercolor pencils with just a little water( or just color pencils), and not conventional water colors, to avoid wrinkles. Smoothness is good with ink however.
With time you learn quite much about papers and paintbrushes. It makes quite a lot of difference which you choose. With bad choise = not suitable paper, and especially low quality brush, it is difficult to make anything good, even though you had talent.
By the way. I have decided to try to have all the time some artwork somewhere here nearby in exhibitions, Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo, maybe even a little further. From tomorrow on there are some flower-artworks in the library of "Iso Omena" = "Big Apple", Helsinki, in addition to the few that have already been a couple of weeks in Vihti. In many places there are quite long queues however, even one year.

Tässä jo aiemmin puheena ollut tyylitelty versio koskesta, tehty tussilla ja vesivärikynillä. Ei tällä kertaa lapsin maisemissa, vaan yhdistettynä mökkipihalta tuttuun jasmikkeeseen, jonka kukat olen pelkistänyt putkimaisiksi kimpuiksi, mitä ne itse asiassa ovat luonnossa, mutta eivät ihan näin vahvasti. Nämä kukat voisivat periaatteessa olla yhtä hyvin syreeneitä...Koski on helpompi piirtää ilman mallia kun kuvittelee sen epäsäännölliseksi portaikoksi, jonka päällä vesi virtaa.
Työ on tehty ohuehkolle (140 g /m2) sileälle paperille. Sileä paperi on hyvä tussityössä, mutta näin ohut ei niinkään hyvä tavalliselle vesivärille. Parempi värittää joko tavallisilla värikynillä tai vesivärikynillä käyttämällä vain vähän vettä. Muuten menee aika lailla ryppyyn. Haluaisin tehdä tästä mallista myös puupiirroksen.
Ajan myötä on myös oppinut että paperin ja erityisesti siveltimen valinnalla on väliä. Jos sattuu valitsemaan vääränlaisen paperin ja varsinkin jo valitsee surkean siveltimen, on taitavankaan tekijän vaikea saada aikaiseksi hyvää työtä.
Olen aloitellut "näyttelyputkea" eli käytännössä toivon, että minulla olisi koko jana joitain töitä jossain näyttelyssä täällä lähikunnissa. No muutama työ onkin Vihdin Taideyhdistyksen näyttelyssä Vihdissä ja huomenna vien kukkatöitä. "Iso Omenan"-kirjastoon Espooseen. Kirjastojen näyttelyt ovat kyllä suosittuja, vuoden jono ei ole harvinaista, mutta jotain tilaa tuntuu silti löytyvän.

Lapland Kilpisjärvi, watercolor painting / Lappi, Kilpisjärvi, akvarelli

 

Lapland, Kilpisjärvi. A very nice place. Have been there years ago.  I think that the mountains are at the same time powerful and calming, weather they are in Lapland, southern Finland, Tenerife or where ever. .

A more traditional and realistic painting for change. However not totally realistic. I have exaggerated the tortuobsity of the trees,  mountain birches, for instance.  The mountain ,Saana, I tried to paint as it looks.

 

Simultaneously I made a stylized painting, with the same original idea, the brook, which however I also have exaggerated so that it looks rapids. I will put the stylized one here  a little later. It feels nice to paint landscapes after a long time.

Lappi, Kilpisjärvi. Hieno paikka, jossa olen ollut vuosia sitten. Vuoristomaisemissa on jotain samalla sekä mahtiponista että rauhoittavaa, oli se sitten Lapissa tai vaikka Teneriffan vuoristossa. Tällä kertaa, vaihteeksi perinteisempi ja realistisempi maalaus. Olen kuitenkin halunnut korostaa tunturikoivujen kiemuraisuutta. Purostakin tuli enemmän kosken näköinen. Saana-tunturista yritin tehdä ihan itsensä näköisen.

 

Tein samanaikaisesti myös tyylitellymmän maalauksen, jossa myöskin oli innoittajana koski. Laitan sen tänne vähän myöhemmin.

Mukavaa tehdä maisemia pitkästä aikaa.

 

 

 

 

 

Tulppaaneita / Tulipes

One more tulipe painting. I have before painted some with chinese brush-painting style, tempera and etching. All quite different. This is an intuitive paninting in contrast to an analytic one, that I also have - in a drawing stage. I'll finish it some day later, as well as will complete my dancer series, carnival dancer is waiting half-ready.  Now  I would like to make some landscapes...

Jälleen yksi tulppaanimaalaus, joita huomasin minulle jo kertyneen useampia: Muutama kiianlaisella tussimaalaustekniikalla, yksi tempera ja yksi kuivaneula-etsaus. Kaikki ihan erilaisia. Tämä on varsin intuitiivinen työ vastakohtana analyyttiselle, jonka senkin tein, mutta joka on vasta piirrosvaiheessa. Teen loppuun joskus. Samoin kuin täydennän tanssija-sarjaani. Karnevaali-tanssija on puolivalmiin odottamassa.Nyt huvittaisi tehdä joitain maisemia.

Easter Witch Family / Trulliperhe

Easter has just pasted.  I finished this series today, maybe some fine tuning still.. Didn´t have time o put them here until now. I will later put a border around them - maybe green?  like with the musician elves, at least with small sizes like postcard-size.
Feeling quite busy. Preparing for an exhibition in Vihti.

Pääsiäinen meni juuri ohi. Sain tämän sarjan tänään valmiiksi ja ehdin laittaa blogiin vasta nyt. Ehkä vielä hieman hienoviilaan. Laitan näihinkin myöhemmin reunuksia samoin kuin soittajatonttuihin, ehkäpä vihreää sävyä? Ainakin  pienempiin, kuten korttikokoihin.
Hiukka kiirettä pitää. Aion osallistua Vihdin taiteilijaseuran yhteisnäyttelyyn muutamalla kuvalla.

The Mother of The Witch Family going to work / Trulliperheen äiti lähdössä töihin

Painting 1/4 from my series "Easter Witch Family" Mother going to work with the cat.  Made for change with indian ink and watercolor. With ink it looks better, more tridimensional if there is variation in the thickness of the line, usually more thickness in the shadow, it can even be fading in some places. Well, if you make a  purely decorative painting, that doesn't have to look very natural,  the outlinig can of course be be whatever you like.
The next one will be the daughter.

Maalaus 1/4 sarjastani "Trulliperhe". Äiti lähtee töihin kissan kanssa. Tehty vaihteeksi tussilla, sekä myös vesivärillä. Tussilla tulee monesti kivemman, kolmiulotteisemman näköistä jälkeä kun vaihtelee viivan paksuutta. Varjokohtiin yleensä paksummin viivaa. Joistain kohdista viiva voi jopa häipyä. Toisaalta jos kuvan ei tarvitse olla niin esittävä, tai jos se on puhtaasti dekoratiivinen, voi viiva olla millainen vaan.
Seuraavaksi valmistuu trulliperheen tytär.

Easter Witch Family, computer science like coding course / Trulliperhe, koodaus- ja kotisivuopiskelua

Time flies. Well, I have drawn and painted, almost every day. Lately an easter witch family. You can see the not-finished drawings here. I make the pictures for change with indian ink and watercolor. I have also a portrait of Catherine Deneuve, just needs a little finishing. Already for a longer time I have thought I could make some pictures of also other glamour stars like Elisabeth Taylor or Grace Kelly. We´ll see. I have quite  a long list of pictures  I would like to do. And then , out of the blue, something like Easter Witch Family occurs into my mind.
I´ve also been studying more  about making Weebly website and keep on studying coding html / CSS. The first course for me in which I listen the lectures  through my Computer. In the Weebly course I learned how to put pages with different languages in one site. Much quicker to update the pages that way. However because I removed  one site and had to change the addresses, my site is a bit in a mess. When you google and find my pictures, you can get a note "Page not found". Annoying. Hope it goes over...

Taas vähän vierähtänyt aikaa. Olen kyllä piirrellyt maalaillut. Ohessa keskeneräinen trulliperhe- sarja, jonka teen vaihteeksi tussilla käyttäen myös vesiväriä lopuksi. Catherine Deneuve muotokuva vaatii pientä viimeistelyä... Olen ajatellut jo pidempään että tällaisista glamour tähdistä, joita oloivat myös Elisabeth Taylor ja Grace Kelly, voisi tehdä jonkun kuvan. Saa nyt nähdä. Listani kuvista joita voisi tehdä on varsin pitkä, kun aina tulee jotain uuttakin mieleen, niin kuin nyt vaikka tuo trulliperhe.
Olen viime aikoina opiskellut tietotekniikkaa sikäli että kävin weebly-kotisivujen jatkokurssin ja nyt on html/CSS koodauskurssi meneillään. Ensimmäinen kurssi elämässäni, jossa kuuntelen luentoja näyttöpäätteen äärellä. Ensin mainitulta kurssilta opin miten eri kieliset sivut voi laittaa samaan sivustoon (helpottaa huomattavasti päivitystä). Onnistui kyllä, mutta koska poistin yhden sivuston ja vaihtelin  osoitteita, ovat sivuni  tällä hetkellä hieman sekaisin. Jos googlaa ja klikkaa kuviani, saattaa tulla ilmoitus "Page not found". Toivottavasti on ohimenevää...

More about masters of ornamental pictures like Verneuil / Vähän lisää ornamentaalisten kuvien mestareista kuten Verneuil

Every now and then I write here (or in google +) about my idols in art. In the former text of today I mentioned Verneuil. So a little more of him:

I bumped into the decorative  and ornamental pictures of animals and flowers of Maurice Pillard Verneuil (1869-1942) for the first time during a serigraphy course a year ago. Couldn´t get my eyes from the pictures and admiring them for a while. I think he is unbeatable with his beautiful
ornaments.

and bought these two books after at first have borrowed  them from the library and looked through.

Another master of ornaments is Alfonse Mucha of whom maybe later more. I think his ornaments are in a fascinating way more asymmetrical.
These two Masters worked also together, at least they made one book of ornaments together.(I don´t remember the name of it though just now).  I remember however that they also used mirrors for creating ornaments.

Aina välillä kirjoitan täällä - tai google+:ssa - esikuvistani. Yhteen heistä törmäsin vasta vuosi sitten serigrafiakurssilla eli Maurice Pillard Verneuilleen (1869 - 1942). Kirja kiersi kurssilla enkä hetkeen saanut kuvista silmiäni irti. Niinpä lainasin kirjastosta pari kirjaa, jossa oli samoja kuvia ja päädyin tilaamaan ne Amazonista. Ei kaduta. Hän on lyömätön kasvi ja eläinornamenteissa. Toinen ja myös hänen aikalaisensa on Alfonso Mucha, joka ei itse asiassa jää yhtään huonommaksi. Hänen ornamenttinsa ovat kuitenkin kiehtovalla tavalla epäsymmetrisempiä. Hänestä ehkä sitten joskus myöhemmin lisää. Nämä kaksi tekivät myös yhteistyötä, ainakin yhden yhteisen ornamenttimalleja sisältävän kirjan muodossa. Kirjan nimeä en juuri nyt valitettavasti muista. Mieleeni kuitenkin jäi, että  kirjassa mainittiin heidän käyttävän myös peilejä hyväkseen ornamenttien tuottamisessa.

Orchid-painting and thoughts about ornaments / Orkidea- maalaus ja ajatuksia ornamenteista

Last summer I made quite many sketches of flowers in my cottage. I also made this orchid painting, but finished it just lately. While making it I admired and also used as a model this orchid. My version is stylished, but I made an even more stylished version, that is waiting to be finished. The Basic structure of flowers is quite symmetrical, good source of inspiration for ornaments.Maurice Pillard Verneuil was a master in that area. ( In fact I have bought 2 books of his artwork). He made fabulous ornaments not besides flowers, also of animals. He was a master in reducing the object to the essential. My opinion is that this is more difficult than for example painting photorealistic. You have to think more.

Tein viime kesänä lukuisia luonnoksia kukista  mökillä. Tein myös tämän orkidea maalauksen, jonka kuitenkin viimeistelin vasta vastikään. Ihailin ja otin mallia kuvassa näkyvästä orkideasta. Maalaukseni on kuitenkin tyylitelty. Tosin tein vielä enemmänkin tyylitellyn työn, joka on vielä kesken...Kukkien perusrakenne on varsin symmetrinen, mikä on hyvä lähde kukka-ornamenteille. Maurice Pillard Verneuil oli mestari tällä alueella. (Itse asiassa olen ostanut 2 kirjaa, joissa on hänen töitään). Hän teki paitsi upeita kukka- niin myös eläinornamentteja. Ornamenttien teossa on mielestäni kyse taitavasta pelkistämisestä ja kohteen oleellisen löytämisestä ja tämän Verneuil hallitsi. Henkilökohtaisesti olen sitä mieltä, että taitava pelkistäminen on haasteellisempaa kuin valokuvan tarkan piirroksen tekeminen. Siinä joutuu miettimään enemmän.

Series of dancers: flamenco dancer / Tanssija-sarjan ensimmäinen: flamencotanssija

I´ve been busy making pictures lately. I have  managed to create a drawing-painting  daily routine. I begin my day quite early in the morning with drawing /painting, or at least planning a new picture. I´m making a series of dancers. I have started with female dancers - they are more - but later for sure also some male dancers. The first one is ready, the flamenco dancer, it is added to this text. I made the drawing for it in fact summer 2014. It is a pencil drawing, more precise than a sketch.  The second is almost ready, the third is half-way and two are on my mind waiting to be drawn. Making these pictures like quite many of my former pictures ,too, I have already decided the "color-world" before I start to draw, I mean the color-world very often comes first and then the picture.
Last summer I made quite many sketches of the flowers growing around my cottage. In these dancer pictures I have put flowers, that have their origin in those sketches.

Viime aikoina olen tehnyt ahkerasti kuvia. Olen jopa saanut aikaiseksi jnkl rutiinin. Aloitan päiväni aamunvirkkuna suht aikaisin piirtämällä / maalaamalla tai vähintäänkin suunnittelemalla uutta kuvaa. Teen tällä hetkellä tanssija -sarjaa. Alkuun tulee vain naistanssijoita, joita on enemmänkin, myöhemmin uskoisin että myös miehiä. Ensimmäinen työ, joka on tämän viestin liitteenäkin, flamenco-tanssija on ollut valmis jo jonkun aikaa. Siihen liittyvän itsenäisen ja erillisen lyijykynäpiirroksen tein jo kesällä 2014. Toinen tanssija on lähes valmis, kolmas puolitiessä. 4. ja 5.ovat vasta mielessä. Näiden kuvien, kuten niin monen muunkin kuvani värimaailma, on syntynyt mielessäni jo ennen piirtämistä. Eli usein täissäni tulee ensin aiheeseen sopiva värimaailma, sitten kuva. Joskus olen miettinyt ensin mitä värejä haluaisin käyttää, ja sitten vasta mihin aiheeseen ne voisivat sopia.
Tein viime kesänä paljon luonnoksia mökkini pihapiirissä kasvavista kukista. Huomasin, että olen alkanut laittaa niitä vähän niin kuin vahingossa näihin tanssijakuviin.

Giclée Prints that look almost like the originals, finally / Onnistuneet taideprintit - lähes kuin originaalit, vihdoin

Now I have managed to make good enough prints of my artwork. That means that the prints look as much as the originals as possible. I use slightly structured "middle-weight" watercolor paper for prints and archival inks. The colors must be adjusted to look more like the original, not so simple that I thought.   Later I´m going to make trials also with glossy and other kinds of papers and methods of handling the picture.
I´ve started a series of dancers with a painting of a flamenco-dancer. It is almost ready.  I will put the picture here soon.

Onnistuin vihdoin vihdoin viimein vastikään saamaan aikaiseksi printtejä, jotka ovat riittävän lähellä originaalia.  Tänä onnistuu parhaiten käyttämällä "keskipaksua" kevyesti strukturoitua vesiväripaperia, pigmenttimusteilla. Värejä on täytynyt opetella säätämään, jotta päästäisiin lähemmäs origaalin sävyjä. Vaatinut ei-ihan-vähän opettelua. Aion myös tehdä kokeiluita muilla papereilla, mm  kiiltävillä ja erilaisilla pintakäsittelyillä.
Olen aloittanut uuden "tanssija"-sarjan flamencotanssija-maalauksella. Se on lähes valmis. Laitan sen lähiaikoina tänne.

Snowman and snow woman painting / Lumiukko-pariskunta

I painted this picture during christmas. We are having very cold here  in Finland at the time. There is snow and much more light. It looks more beautiful and it is lighter when you go out. Very good. The only one who has suffered from the coldness, is my poor car, with which I have been quite busy lately. From now on I hope I will have more time to concentrate on painting again.

Tein tämän maalauksen joulun aikaan. Nyt kun on kovia pakkasia ja lunta maassa, on hyvä aika julkaista se täällä. Ulkona on valoisaa ja kaunista. Autoni ei kuitenkaan voinut hyvin näissä pakkasissa ja sitä ihmetellessä onkin vierähtänyt muutama tovi; mm tyhjentynyttä akkua ladatessa ja toimimatonta lohkolämmitintä ihmetellessä. Nyt kun autoasioiden pitäisi olla pois päiväjärjestyksestä,  yritän taas keskittyä maalauspuuhiin.
